Philosophy
How the training is built
Rains Endurance Coaching is online, one-to-one endurance coaching for runners who train in the weather rather than waiting for it to improve. Every block is written for the goal on your calendar — a race, a distance, or simply getting fitter — the terrain it covers and the hours you genuinely have, then reviewed and adjusted against what you actually ran. You do not need a race booked to start. There is no assistant inbox between you and the person writing your week.
An honest aerobic base
Everything is built on an aerobic base we have tested and can trust. Easy running is prescribed as a session with a purpose, not as the leftover time between hard days — because speed without a base is a short, expensive detour.
Threshold discipline
The work that hurts gets a reason, a pace and a place in the week. You will know what every quality session is for and what it should feel like. No junk miles, no accidental racing in training, no session that exists because it was on a template.
Strength & durability
Two short sessions a week of running-specific strength and mobility. Not gym work for its own sake — the tissue capacity that keeps your form together late in a long run and keeps you training when a block gets heavy.
Pacing & preparation
Pacing, fuelling, kit and contingency, rehearsed before race day or the long day out. Long runs carry goal-pace segments and practice fuelling so the decisions are already made and the only thing left to do is run.
The app
Everything you use, week to week
The coaching runs inside this site. Every athlete gets their own account, and the coach side has its own dashboard — both on the same data, so a session moved by your coach is immediately moved on your calendar. This is what each side gets.
For athletes
Inside your account
Your own dashboard
Sign in to My coaching and see the sessions ahead, your current plan, your package and your messages in one place.
Training calendar
Every session lands on the day it is written for, with paces, sets, terrain and intent. Move a session when life intervenes, add a note on how it went, and mark it done or skipped.
Plan builder
Pick the plan that matches your goal and level, choose your start date, and the block is written straight into your calendar. Rebuild it against a new race date when the goal changes.
Strava sync
Connect Strava once. Your runs are pulled in and matched to the planned session, so your calendar shows what you actually ran. That log is private to you: your coach sees your plan and the feedback you write.
Training templates
Browse the plan library by goal, level, weeks and sessions per week, and read the week-by-week structure before you commit to anything.
Exercise library
Drills, strength and mobility work with instructions, coaching cues, prescription and a demo video — the same library your plan links to.
Messaging
A private thread with your coach for the week-to-week detail, plus a group thread where the whole squad shares races, routes and questions.
Custom plans
If no template fits your goal, ask for a hand-built plan: send the race, the dates and the days you can train, and it comes back written for you.
Checkout and intake
Pay by card through Base44 Payments, then complete the athlete intake — goal, history, current bests, injuries and the week you can sustain — before your first block.
Notifications
The bell in the header tells you when your coach has changed your plan or sent you a message.
For coaches
Inside the coach side
Coach dashboard
Your roster, each athlete’s profile and intake, plan requests waiting for an answer, and the tools you build plans with.
The planner
A week-by-week calendar per athlete. Add, edit and move sessions in a couple of clicks, with type, distance, duration and the detail that makes the session repeatable.
Plan builder and templates
Build a block week by week, duplicate a template and reshape it for one athlete, then keep it private or share it in the library for your whole roster.
Exercise library management
Add your own drills, strength and mobility work with cues, prescriptions and video links, then attach them to sessions in any plan.
Athlete messaging
One private thread per athlete, plus a group thread, so nothing is lost in an inbox that mixes clients with everything else.
What the athletes did
Sessions the athlete ticks off show their effort rating and notes, and the notification bell tells you when an athlete moves or finishes a session.
Trial and subscription
The coach side is sold on the For coaches page as Solo, Studio or Squad, and a two-week trial code opens it immediately — access closes on its own when the trial ends.
Systems
What runs underneath
Payments
Card checkout is handled by Base44 Payments. Your purchase is tied to your account, the subscription is managed in the app, and access opens as soon as the payment clears.
Strava connection
Strava is connected by the athlete, not the coach. Their runs are matched to the planned session in their own log and never reach the coach dashboard, and disconnecting revokes that access again.
Two views, one set of data
Clients see their own plan, sessions and messages only. The coach sees the roster. Nothing is duplicated between the two sides of the app.
Trials that expire
Trial codes grant a fixed number of days of full access and are closed automatically when they run out — no manual tidy-up, no access left open.

Process
How the coaching works
Enquiry
Tell me the goal, the date and the hours you actually have. You get a straight answer on which package fits — or whether coaching is the right move right now.
Package and payment
Choose your package and pay by card at checkout through Base44 Payments. Your subscription is tied to your account, and access opens as soon as the payment clears.
Intake
Complete the athlete intake: your goal, training history, current bests, injury background and the week you can sustain. Your first block follows.
Weekly coaching
Sessions land on your calendar and you tick them off with a note on how they went. Strava, if you connect it, fills in what you actually ran. You message your coach in the app, and the following week is written against what you reported — not against what was originally planned.
Next step
Questions before you commit? Send an enquiry through the contact page and you will get a straight answer, typically within two working days.
